May 27, 2010 - The City of Tampa will hold a ground breaking ceremony for the new Springhill Park Community Center at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 5. The 16,000 square foot facility will be located at 1000 Eskimo Avenue.
Once completed, the facility will feature a gymnasium, kitchen, classroom, multi-purpose room, theater arts classrooms, splash pad, play equipment, and a new sports field. The atrium will host a public art mobile by local Seminole Heights glass sculptor Susan Gott. Projected program offerings include youth and adult sports such as basketball, flag football, volleyball and softball; adult and senior fitness and nutrition classes computer, teen programs, cheerleading, step, arts & crafts and cooking classes.
The anticipated opening of the Springhill Park Community Center is spring/summer 2011. The projected cost is $2.5 million and is funded through the CIT bond.
