July 8, 2010 - Governor Charlie Crist declared July as Parks & Recreation month and residents from all around Tampa Bay can join the celebration on July 16 for “It Starts In Parks” day. Tampa Parks and Recreation Department invites you to join us from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park as we celebrate National Parks and Recreation Month with games, demonstrations and entertainment. Be a kid again and come play in our parks!
July is the busiest month of the year for the parks and recreation industry. July 4 is the single busiest day for attendance at our state and local parks and recreation facilities. Spending the day at the parks is good for your wallet, your health, and your community. At your local park you can learn respect for nature and ways to conserve our natural resources. The thousands of recreation programs held at our parks help our children gain a sense of community, learn about our local history and heritage, and gain a sense of achievement through organized athletics.
The Tampa Bay communities have many recreation opportunities to explore and help you celebrate “It Starts In Parks” Day. For more detailed information visit www.frpa.org or call the Tampa Parks and Recreation Department at (813) 274-8615 or visit us on the web at www.tampagov.net/parksandrec.
