The City Council of the City of Tampa is seeking volunteers to fill these positions due to resignations on the following boards and commissions:

Barrio Latino Commission**

One Position – Due to Resignation - Term expires on February 4, 2012:
• Alternate

Membership – (Per Section 27-182(b) of the City of Tampa Code
• Four (4) members and one (1) alternate member shall be appointed by City Council.
• Term of appointment – Two years
• In appointing members, City Council shall include:
o One (1) from the Ybor City Chamber of Commerce
o One (1) attorney licensed to practice in the State, who resides in the City and who had demonstrated an active interest in historic preservation
o One (1) registered architect, in the State of Florida, who resides in the City and who has demonstrated an active interest in the purposes of this part through training or experience in architectural history
o One (1) who shall be a resident of the Ybor City Historic District.

ENTERPRISE ZONE DEVELOPMENT AGENCY

One (1) Position - Due to Resignation – Term expires on May 24, 2014:

Membership – (Per Ordinance No. 2005-314, as amended by Ordinance No. 2006-126):
• The Enterprise Zone Development Agency shall be comprised of 11 members.
o 11 members appointed by City Council.
o Boardmembers are appointed to serve for 4 years, terms are staggered.
o Boardmembers are required to take oath of office.
o Boardmembers are not required to file state financial disclosure.

Historic Preservation Commission

One (1) Position – Due to resignation - Term expires on May 31, 2011.
• Must be an historian to fill this position
• Must be a resident and elector of the City of Tampa

Membership – (Per Section 27-230(a) of the City of Tampa Code – Updated by Ordinance No. 2007-156:)
• The HPC shall be comprised of seven (7) members.
o Four (4) members of the HPC and one (1) alternate member shall be appointed by the Mayor and approved by the City Council.
o Three (3) members and one (1) alternate member shall be appointed by the City Council.
o The members shall have a demonstrated interest, competence, experience or knowledge in historic preservation, architecture, history, architectural history, planning, archaeology, development, real estate appraisals, real estate marketing, law or other related disciplines.
o Four (4) of the members shall be architects, architectural historians, historic preservationists, urban planners, historians or archaeologists with at least one (1) architect and one (1) architectural historian or historic preservationist.
o Members of the HPC shall not sit as officers or board members of local preservation related organizations.

One (1) Vacancy – Due to resignation - Term expires on February 20, 2012:
• At-Large from the WMBE Community

Membership:
• Seven members to be appointed by City Council.
• Initial appointments: Terms are to be staggered
• All appointees shall be residents of the City of Tampa or Hillsborough County
• Individuals interested in being appointed must have permanent, legal residency in Hillsborough County, State of Florida
• Positions are voluntary. Individuals appointed to serve on the EBOAC serve without compensation.
• In appointing members, City Council may include a combination of subcontractors, prime contractors, non-vocation professionals and civic leaders wherein the composition of membership represents at least:
o One (1) citizens who is African American
o One (1) citizen who is Hispanic American
o One (1) citizen who is Caucasian Female
o One (1) citizen who is Caucasian Male
o One (1) ethnic minority citizen (non-specific)
o Two (2) citizens at large (Designated as being from the WMBE Community)

These positions are voluntary. Individuals being appointed to serve on these boards and commissions serve without compensation. Individuals being appointed may be required to file financial disclosure.

Deadline for submission of applications is 5:00 p.m. on Friday, September 10, 2010 in the Office of the City Clerk, Old City Hall, 315 E. Kennedy Blvd., Third Floor, Tampa, Florida.

The City Council of the City of Tampa has scheduled three-minute presentations by the applicants interested in being considered for one of these positions. The three-minute presentations are scheduled for the September 23, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. under Staff Reports and Unfinished Business during the regular session of City Council. The regular sessions are held in the Tampa City Council Chambers, Old City Hall, 315 E. Kennedy Blvd., Third Floor, Tampa, Florida.

The updated applications are available in the Office of the City Clerk, Old City Hall, 315 E. Kennedy Blvd., Third Floor, Tampa, Florida and in the lobby area of the Old City Hall. Applications are also available on the City of Tampa’s website, which is as follows:
