Tampa, FL June 1, 2011 - Does your landscape have what it takes to be a 2011 Community Water-Wise Award winner? For more than a decade, the Tampa Water Department has partnered with the program sponsors, Tampa Bay Water and local county Extension Offices’ Florida Yards & Neighborhoods Programs, to promote water conservation and recognize those individuals or groups who have created attractive, water-efficient landscapes.
The Community Water-Wise Awards has categories for residential and commercial properties, along with builders, schools and government sites. We encourage Tampa residents, homeowners and businesses to participate in this competition and show off their landscapes that exhibit Florida-friendly plants, prevent stormwater runoff, and have efficient irrigation.
Have you retained or restored natural areas in your yard? Are your plants appropriate for your site? Do you retain and use rainfall on-site? Is your irrigation system properly designed and maintained? Be recognized for your responsible choices. Fill out an application before June 30 and tell the judges about your potentially award-winning landscape.
