Buckhorn Appoints Wastewater Director
 
Tampa, FL September 8, 2011 - Mayor Bob Buckhorn has appointed Anthony Kasper as the new Wastewater Department Director. Kasper has been with the City of Tampa since 2004 and is currently serving as the acting director.

Kasper has served as the Chief Engineer in the Wastewater Department since 2007. He has been instrumental in leading the department through the planning, design, and construction for many capital improvement projects including the rehabilitation of several pump stations as well as upgrades to the collection system and the treatment plant. Kasper started his career as a Civil Engineering co-op student at the City of Tampa and after graduation worked with the Florida Department of Transportation. He has a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from the University of South Florida and is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Florida. Kasper is also a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Water Environment Federation.

The Wastewater Department is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the city’s 96
million gallon per day advanced wastewater treatment plant and 223 pumping stations that collect, treat, and dispose of more than 50 million gallons of wastewater each day from more than 100,000 customers in Tampa and its immediate suburbs.

Kasper's annual starting salary will be $110,000. He will serve in an interim capacity until he establishes residency within the City of Tampa at which time his nomination will go before Tampa City Council for confirmation. The Wastewater director reports to the Public Works and Utility Services administrator.
