Tampa, FL November 18, 2011 - Mayor Bob Buckhorn released the following statement in response to the passage of convention funding:
"I am very pleased that Tampa has secured the necessary funding for the upcoming 2012 Republican National Convention. I am confident that the $50 million allocation will allow us to host a convention that not only showcases Tampa, but is safe and enjoyable for everyone. This is our chance to tell Tampa's story to the world.
"Again, I want to thank Florida's entire congressional delegation, specifically Congresswoman Castor and Congressman Bilirakis, but especially Congressman Young, who led the way in securing this funding for Tampa. "
