Tampa, FL March 13, 2012 - Mayor Bob Buckhorn announced today the appointment of Greg Bayor as City of Tampa Director of Parks and Recreation.
"By creating successful new partnerships with various organizations, including the Cal Ripkin, Sr. Foundation and the Baltimore Ravens, Greg has demonstrated his ingenuity and been able to make Baltimore's parks better for everyone to enjoy. That kind of get it done attitude is something I appreciate, and is why I am confident he will be a great addition to our team," said Mayor Bob Buckhorn.
Bayor brings more than 30 years of experience to this position. Currently, he holds the position of Director of Recreation and Parks for the City of Baltimore, Maryland. For more than a decade, he served as the Director of Recreation in Montgomery County, Maryland, overseeing all recreation facilities and programming. He also served as the Director of Parks and Recreation for the City of Elgin, Illinois. Bayor holds a Bachelor of the Arts in History from the University of Baltimore.
The Parks and Recreation Director reports to the Chief of Staff. Bayor’s starting salary will be $132,000. A start date has yet to be determined. He will serve in an interim capacity until he can establish residency within the City of Tampa at which time his nomination will go before Tampa City Council for confirmation.
