Tampa, FL May 3, 2012 - The City of Tampa has launched a new look for its website www.tampagov.net.
Some of the improvements incorporated into the redesign are a new interactive map service and streamlined information, as well as enhanced search and menu options. The site now has integrated social networking facilities throughout, including the Foursquare heat map, which is being utilized in the downtown Master Plan. The redesign also features increased multimedia options including slide shows of photos, special reports, and video.
"Technology plays a critical role in the economic future of our City," said Mayor Bob Buckhorn. "This is just one of many steps in our efforts to better meet our customer and constituent needs through technology. We will continue to upgrade and use technology -- from our redesigned website to the new online permitting system -- to modernize how city government works."
The website overhaul was mainly completed in house by City of Tampa staff. It is one of many projects the City of Tampa is undertaking to expand the use of technology, and other projects include the implementation of the Accela permitting system and the joint City-County Enterprise Resource Planning System (ERP).
