Tampa, FL July 10, 2012 - Tampa Police Investigating Serious Crash Involving Dirt Bike

DETAILS:
Tampa Police Officers are on the scene of a dirt bike accident that occurred at 8:17 a.m. The initial investigation indicates the driver was heading northbound on Habana Avenue when he attempted to pass a vehicle by entering the southbound lanes of Habana Avenue. When he passed the vehicle, the driver lost control of the dirt bike and struck a curb causing him to be ejected from the dirt bike. The driver sustained critical injuries and was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital. There were no other vehicles involved in the accident.
Both the northbound and southbound lanes are closed on Habana Avenue between Woodlawn Avenue and Ohio Avenue. A media alert will be sent out when the north and southbound lanes are re-opened.
