Efficiency Can Pay Off for Teachers in Hillsborough County

Tampa, FL September 20, 2012 - The City of Tampa Water Department is providing $5,000 to help Hillsborough County teachers develop innovative and enriching activities for students learning about the efficient use of water.

Teachers in grades K-12 whose schools are served by the Tampa Water Department can receive City of Tampa Water Efficiency Education Grants ranging from $250 to $1,000. The grants, available through the Hillsborough Education Foundation’s School Enrichment program, can be used for classroom materials, supplies and other project expenses.

The 2012-2013 school year grant application process is open from September 5, 2012, through March 29, 2013. Applications and full grant qualifications are available online at www.educationfoundation.com/SchoolEnrichment/CashClassrooms.

This is the third year the Water Department has sponsored the School Enrichment grants, which supports the City’s initiatives to enhance educational programs through collaboration between City services and Tampa’s schools. Information on past grant projects and other education support resources available from the Tampa Water Department can be found online at www.TampaGov.net/WaterEducation.
