What: Citizens will take to the streets and the Tampa Police Department's social networking sites to campaign against crime during the police department's National Night Out photo contest.
When: Tuesday, October 2, 2012 from 5 p.m.-9 p.m.
Where: Mayor Bob Buckhorn will visit citizens in the following neighborhoods:
6:00 p.m. Hunter's Green
Nathaniel Hunter Park
9456 Highland Oak Drive
7:00 p.m. Bowman Heights, MacFarlane Park, Capaz Park and Old West Tampa
MacFarlane Park
1700 North MacDill Avenue
7:30 p.m. Hyde Park, Bayshore Beautiful, and Swann Estates
Kate Jackson Community Center
821 South Rome Avenue
7:45 p.m. Davis Islands Business District
Slice of Tampa Bay Pizza and BBQ

The Tampa Police Department is inviting citizens in over 20 National Night Out (NNO) locations to share their photos and posts on the department's Facebook page. It is all part of the department's "Going Social" effort to encourage residents to take part in the night out against crime, which the city is celebrating in October this year. During the event, NNO participants will be able to post photos of officers interacting with citizens at their event directly onto TPD's Facebook wall. The neighborhood that receives the most likes' on one of their photos will win a special visit from Chief Jane Castor. The department hopes more citizens will become involved in their Neighborhood Crime Watch program and National Night Out because of its social media interaction.

National Night Out is designed to:
* Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness
* Generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs
* Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police community partnerships
* Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back
