October 18, 2012 - The City of Tampa Parks and Recreation Department is building a playground and needs your help. We are seeking 200 volunteers to assist in a community build day beginning at 8 a.m. on Saturday, November 3 at Temple Crest Park, located at 8116 N. 37th Street.
The children residing in the neighborhood, is located, began planning their new playground in September when a professional playground designer from KaBoom!, a national non-profit organization whose mission is to create great play spaces, met with the children to find out what they wanted in their own play space.
Now that the design is complete, it will need the community to build it. The new play space is made possible through the generous support of the Foresters, KaBOOM!, Friends of Tampa Recreation, Inc. and the City of Tampa.
We invite you to be one of the volunteers who will build these children a new playground on one monumental day. No previous building experience is necessary. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old. To volunteer, please contact: Althea Baker at 753-5050 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
This is the sixth time the City of Tampa has teamed with the national playground builder KaBoom! to create a new play space in Tampa. The first community playground build took place in 2007 at Highland Pines Park. Playgrounds have also been built at Wellwood Park, Cuscaden Park, Jackson Heights Park and Ragan Park.
