Aids Memorial Park to Be Rebuilt through Public-Private Partnership - Park will temporarily close beginning October 26
Tampa, FL October 25, 2012 - Aids Memorial Park, located at 102 Hyde Park Street, will be redesigned and rebuilt as part of a public-private partnership with Crescent Resources LLC.

The City of Tampa has agreed to let Crescent Resources use the park during construction of a new residential development, planned for an adjacent site, in exchange for rebuilding a new and improved park site.

The City declared the park as Aids Memorial Park in 1998; however, it lacked funding to fully develop the site. Crescent Resources LLC built Aids Memorial Park in 2005 as part of the original development agreement during the construction of One Bayshore Condominiums.

The park will temporarily close on Friday, October 26. Crescent Resources will remove all the trees and pavers and the City’s Parks and Recreation Department will re-purpose them in other parks including Bayshore Boulevard Linear Park.

As with the design of the original Aids Memorial Park, the City and Crescent Resources will hold public workshops to gather input on a new design. The park is scheduled to re-open in 18 months.
