| May 14, 2013 | CPR and Basic First Aid Training Available for GTCERT Volunteers
Greater Tampa CERT
Bloomingdale/Riverview CERT will be conducting a CPR and Basic First Aid Training with AED instruction on Saturday May 18th at 9am. This is a certified training and all participants will receive a certification card from American Heart Institute . The training will be at St. Andrews United Methodist Church located on the corner of Bloomingdale Avenue and Bryan Road in Bloomingdale. The Florida Division of Emergency Management will be hosting a POD's training class [Points of Distribution (PODs) FL-2355] on May 3rd from 9am to 3pm at the Emergency Operations Center at 2711 E Hanna Ave, Tampa FL, 33610. This is a 5 hour course designed to teach organizations how to select POD sites, determine the equipment and personnel needed to operate the site, and identify the duties of personnel at each site. This is a reminder for our monthly continued education meeting being held this Thursday (3/14) from 7-830 PM at the TFR Training Center. (Room 107 or 108, depending on availability.) Jeff Patterson from Hillsborough County Emergency Management will be there to talk to us about Points of Distribution (PODS) operations in the County. As you will recall, PODS support is one of our four pre-determined tasks from the City of Tampa, so this information will be very helpful in the event we are called on to support a POD. We hope to see you all there!
