This month on Spotlight Tampa, the Florida Aquarium has just opened a new research center designed specifically to teach kids how they can help keep our oceans clean.  The Rotary Club of Tampa donated a life-saving tool to the Tampa Police Department.  The nation’s Extension Service, represented locally through the Hillsborough County Extension office, is celebrating its centennial anniversary this year. The Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation and the City of Tampa partnered to bring a youth development park to the Springhill Park Community Center in Sulphur Springs. The CAREN (Computerized Augmented Rehabilitation Environment) system at the University of South Florida is a room-sized piece of medical and engineering equipment that allows researchers to study more effective ways to help improve mobility and balance in those with limb loss. A local sculptor has immortalized in bronze some of Tampa’s most notable citizens.  This year, MOSI has recognized two nationally distinguished Hispanic science and engineering professionals to serve as role models for Tampa Bay’s Hispanic youth.
