Monitor Large Site Developments

Commercial New Construction Site InspectionsPrior to the initial site inspection on large commercial projects, it is necessary to partner with Stormwater, Parks, Zoning, DPW and City Legal departments, to enforce applicable city and state Codes.

Threshold Buildings

The structural inspection plan, prepared by the engineer or architect of record, must be submitted to the building department prior to the issuance of a building permit for the construction of a threshold building. The purpose of the structural inspection plan is to provide specific inspection procedures and schedules so that the building can be adequately inspected for compliance with the permitted documents.

Initial Site Inspection

To be made prior to beginning construction when tree protection and silt barriers are in place, all root and limb pruning is completed and all permitted trees are removed or relocated. For further information, refer to Standard Preparation Requirements.

Erosion Sediment Control

To be made prior to any scheduled or unscheduled inspection. Verify all silt barriers and other erosion control measures are in place and properly maintained such that sediment laden runoff is controlled. For further information, refer to Erosion and Sediment Control.

Site Clearing Brush

Site Clearing and site clearing underbrush inspections begin after Initial Site Inspections have been passed. The inspector will monitor the site ensuring all approved brush, trees, trash, and foliage have been removed and hauled away.

Overlay District

The purpose of an overlay district is to apply specific regulations to distinct geographic areas, which warrant special consideration due to a unique situation or practical difficulties resulting from the historic development pattern. Governing Laws are found in Chapter 27.

Historical District

Currently, there are five (5) historic districts, which encompass over 4,200 buildings. The designation protects these properties that have been determined to be of distinctive character, architectural value and cultural significance to the City.

Site Final Inspection

To be made after all drainage, driveway/paving, tree/landscaping, solid waste dumpster enclosures and all other sitework is completed.
