City-wide Construction Programs

In FY99, the Capital Improvement Program will be $90.6 million, an increase of $46.8 million over FY98. The primary increases are: $25.9 million in the Parking/Utility Tax Bond Fund for new garages in Centro Ybor and at Police Headquarters, expansion of the Fort Brooke garage, construction of several lots, and acquisition of downtown sites and replacement facilities; Water Bond/State Loan funds of $11.9 million for the Hillsborough River Dam improvements and the Water Quality 2000 projects; and Solid Waste Bonds will fund $11.9 million for the McKay Bay Plant retrofit and new administration building. A decrease of $2.3 million in the Utility Tax Fund is due to projects funded in FY98 related to new computerized systems that will not be required in FY99.

The following table is a comparison of funding sources. Major projects are summarized in the following narrative. For specific project descriptions, see the Recommended Capital Improvement Budget Book.
