The 40th Street widening project, a $70 million transportation initiative, is our top road priority. The project will be under construction for a number of years and expands 40th Street from two lanes to four lanes from Hillsborough Avenue to Fowler Avenue. The first of five segments, from Fowler to 500 feet north of Busch Boulevard, will start construction this fiscal year and we are working aggressively to move forward on the other four. This major realignment includes sidewalks, bicycle paths and streetscape. Funding is from federal, state, county and city sources.
