Wastewater

Our underground wastewater pipe system is aging. Many pipelines are well over 50 years old and cave-ins and overflows are on the rise because these pipes are in need of replacement and rehabilitation. As a result, the wastewater department is seeking a five percent rate increase to help create a comprehensive replacement program. Wastewater overflows that have occurred on Coachman Avenue during times of street flooding will be fixed this year.

Wastewater cave-in at Sligh Avenue and Rivershore Drive.

Water

As Tampa's water department is responsible for providing quality water service to its customers, it is important we upgrade the aging pipes in order to maintain our water quality. This year a three percent rate increase will help fund a systematic pipe replacement program.

Solid Waste

Rising fuel costs, operational costs and the expansion of our fully-automated refuse collection services requires a three percent rate increase in order for us to continue to provide the quality collection service our customers have come to expect.
