Dear Citizen,
This year's budget theme, "People First," reflects city government's commitment to making improvements in our community - improvements that affect the daily lives of our residents and visitors.
Tampa is a growing, vibrant city, and with that growth we must invest in all parts of our city so that each neighborhood will flourish. I believe in focusing on the basics in order to maintain our city in a quality way. This requires an emphasis on public safety. Well equipped police and fire departments are essential for a positive quality of life. It means an emphasis on road improvements, street resurfacing, sidewalks, signage and traffic calming improvements. Long neglected stormwater projects will finally be addressed through a five-year capital plan and parks and recreation facilities continue to be a high priority. Code enforcement and our new clean city division will continue their focus on keeping up standards of appearance, safety and cleanliness throughout our city.
The creation of our yearly budget is a team effort. Throughout the year I discuss priorities and recommendations for improvement with the seven city council members. Those inputs are reflected in the recommended budget. Two public hearings scheduled in September provide the opportunity for you to make your voice heard and together, we collectively produce a plan that reinvests your tax money in the community.
I hope you find this information useful and I appreciate the opportunity to serve you.
Sincerely,
