The Riverwalk is an integral part of the city’s goal to revitalize downtown and open
the Hillsborough River to the people of Tampa. It will extend nearly two miles from
the east end of Garrison Channel to Water Works Park in Tampa Heights. The
Riverwalk will link such destinations as city parks, the convention center, museums,
Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center and the portions of the Riverwalk that already
exist. For fiscal year 2005, $1 million is being allocated to provide for design of the
remaining segments and a private sector fundraising effort will begin this fall.
