Initial Site Inspection
Erosion Sediment ControlTo be made prior to any scheduled or unscheduled inspection. Verify all silt barriers and other erosion control measures are in place and properly maintained such that sediment laden runoff is controlled. For further information, refer to Erosion and Sediment Control. Site General ConditionsDuring the course of construction, care must be taken to maintain the tranquility of the neighborhood. The municipality has many laws concerning, noise levels, trash containment, dust, right-of-way maintenance, and job site sanitary facilities. The Building/Site Inspector on each inspection must be proactive in reviewing the general condition of each construction project. Neighborhood complaints will occur and the inspector is responsible for resolving. This may results in fines (Red Tags). Site Clearing BrushSite Clearing and site clearing underbrush inspections begin after Initial Site Inspections have been passed. The inspector will monitor the site ensuring all approved brush, trees, trash, and foliage have been removed and hauled away. Overlay DistrictThe purpose of an overlay district is to apply specific regulations to distinct geographic areas, which warrant special consideration due to a unique situation or practical difficulties resulting from the historic development pattern. Governing Laws are found in Chapter 27. Historical DistrictCurrently, there are five (5) historic districts, which encompass over 4,200 buildings. The designation protects these properties that have been determined to be of distinctive character, architectural value and cultural significance to the City. Site Final InspectionTo be made after all drainage, driveway/paving, tree/landscaping, solid waste dumpster enclosures and all other sitework is completed. Landscaping CheckTo be made before or during the final inspection of the project. Inspector will verify number of required code trees planted on site. He/She will also verify condition of required trees, if condition and number of trees are correct, the inspector will final permit.
