Manager's Biography

He was appointed Fire Chief in October, 2004 and is responsible for the day to day operations of the 537 uniformed personnel and 56 civilian employees of TFR. He oversees a $51 million dollar annual budget which supports the Operations, Rescue, Communications, Prevention and Administrative Divisions. 

Chief Jones joined the department in May of 1978, and worked his way up through the ranks, holding positions as firefighter, driver-engineer, captain, and district chief. He served the previous 10 years assigned as the Airport Fire Chief of Tampa International Airport’s ARFF Division.

As an active member of the department, he has been involved in many specialized activities of TFR including the Honor Guard, Urban Search and Rescue, Hazardous Materials, and the Tactical Medic Response Team (TMRT). 

He leads TFR with strength, compassion, honor and integrity.
