26th Awards Luncheon on September 19, 2014

The City of Tampa Mayor's Alliance for Persons with Disabilities is holding its 26th Awards Luncheon on September 19, 2014. Mayor Bob Buckhorn will present the Joe Sanchez Leadership Award, the Employer of the Year Award, the Excellence in Media Award, and the Outstanding Community Service/Volunteer Award.

C. William Fox, Jr., M.D., Brigadier General, U.S. Army (retired) will be the keynote speaker. Dr. Fox, a distinguished veteran, served as top medical officer at Fort Bragg in North Carolina, was commander of Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas, and commander of Bayne-Jones Army Hospital in Louisiana. He is also the former Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for Project HOPE.

During a mission to Iraq in 2008, where Project HOPE was building a children's cancer hospital, Dr. Fox was severely injured when his vehicle was stuck by a roadside bomb. He has continued to lead by example during his long road to recovery.

10:45 am-noon-Exhibition and networking in the Woodlands Foyer of the Doubletree Hotel Westshore. VSA Florida, the state organization on arts and disability, will have an art display.

Noon-1:15 pm-Luncheon program with presentation of awards by Mayor Bob Buckhorn and keynote speech by Dr. Fox.
