Our Goal... “The City of Tampa will be a model for government efficiency and effectiveness, delivering the highest quality of services at the best possible value while providing outstanding customer service in all areas of operations.”

Citizens should expect their government to run efficiently with an emphasis on customer service and cost effectiveness. To achieve this goal, the city promotes excellence within the organization through several key strategies designed to improve the productivity of the city’s workforce and the way it conducts business.

Efficiency, effectiveness and responsiveness are emphasized throughout all city departments. After identifying core responsibilities and services needed to achieve the goals of all Strategic Focus Areas, City of Tampa departments will continuously realign operations to improve efficiency and effectiveness. Technology is used to enhance service while operations are continually improved. Research is constantly conducted on how other cities are improving efficiency and implementing best practices to help city departments stay at the forefront in service delivery techniques.

Greater attention will be placed on integrating customer service feedback into service delivery methods to improve results. Communication with citizens and customers will be improved through enhancements to web-enabled tools such as the Internet and the Customer Service Center.

The City of Tampa seeks to recruit the best and brightest and employment policies are reviewed and revised constantly to attract and maintain a quality workforce. Professional development and skills-based training is provided to ensure the development of a highly skilled, knowledgeable and motivated staff. The citywide customer service policies and associated training programs continue to be a priority to ensure quality customer care.
