Captain Ruben Delgado works with citizens and
businesses in the Sector F region of District Three which covers
Downtown, Ybor City, Channelside, Palmetto Beach and portions of East
He is a strong leader who has worked in a variety of settings in both police and administrative operations. He was the midnight lieutenant when the call came in that two of his officers were fatally wounded and their assailant was on the run. Delgado balanced leading two squads on an intense search for the suspect with consoling a grieving squad and department. Delgado is now one of the department's funeral commanders and assists with planning the logistics of honoring fallen officers in the Bay Area.
Aside from working in patrol as a detective and supervisor, Delgado also spent a portion of his career overseeing the department's Radio Communications Center. As the interim Communications Manager, Delgado supervised all of the police communications personnel and day to day operations. He also gained supervisory administrative experience in the Personnel and Training Unit. There, at the rank of sergeant, he helped revamp the departmentís Citizens Police Academy, while coordinating officer training and employee recognition programs for the entire department.
A Tampa native, Delgado holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Florida. He has spent over a decade volunteering on the department's Honor Guard and Police Memorial Committee. He is married to Grace and together they have two young children, Chase and Kendall.
