Assistant Chief Bob Guidara oversees the Investigative and Special Support Divisions of the Tampa Police Department. His command includes a wide spectrum of services such as criminal investigations, narcotics, gangs, traffic division, personnel and training, records, evidence and property, forensics, special events, emergency management and specialty teams such as the Tactical Response Team, Air Service, Marine & Mounted Patrols. Chief Guidara manages the department’s annual $139 million dollar budget. Following a 4 year tour as a Law Enforcement Specialist with the USAF and an additional year with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office as a Correctional Officer, Chief Guidara began his career with the Tampa Police Department in 1978. He served the department in many capacities, including all three Patrol Districts, Administration, and Special Operations. He was appointed by Mayor Iorio to serve as the interim Public Information Officer during a 13 month nationwide search to fill the position. Assistant Chief Guidara is a former commander of the nationally acclaimed drug unit known as QUAD! As a District Commander, Assistant Chief Guidara was recognized for the role that he played in leading his district to an unprecedented 30% crime reduction. Chief Guidara earned a Bachelors of Science in Criminology from the University of Tampa and a Masters in Public Administration and Human Resources from Golden Gate University. He is also a graduate of the prestigious Southern Police Institute where he earned special recognition as a “Dean’s Scholar.” Chief Guidara is a public servant with a proven and determined track record of improving public safety! Major Hamlin is a native of Queens, NY. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Troy State University. Marc is also a graduate of the University of Louisville’s Southern Police Institute, where he was a Dean Scholar Award winner and President of the 106th Administrative Officers Course. Major Marc Hamlin commands the Special Support Division responsible for the Special Operation Bureau (all special events in the city, Emergency Management, Homeland Security preparedness, TPD Aviation Unit and all specialty teams) and the Special Support Bureau (Personnel, Training, Records, Evidence Control, Supply, Extra Duty, Fleet & CVAP)
