Criminal Investigations Division

Major Mary O'Conner
(813) 276-3610

The Criminal Investigations Division oversees all long term, latent investigations allowing uniform patrol officers to focus on day-to-day operations.  It is comprised of the Major Crimes Bureau, the Strategic Investigations Bureau, and the Communications Bureau.

The Major Crimes Bureau investigates:
Homicides, Sex Crimes, Child Abuse, Domestic Violence, and Hit and Runs.  The bureau also handles forensic investigations, fugitive apprehension, and administrating the department's grant funding.

The Strategic Investigations Bureau handles:  Narcotic and Gang Enforcement, Undercover Operations, and Firearm Investigations.

The Communications Bureau is central to the police function.  Every call for police service must be received, recorded, dispatched and concluded by this area.  The bureau is the vital link between citizens requiring police services, and the officers who respond to the event.
