K-9 & Mounted Patrol Training Facility

Layout of proposed training facility We need enough funding to build a complete K-9 and Equestrian housing, education, and training center. Our K-9 and Mounted Patrol Unit has the property to develop but currently our horses do not have a home of their own Our K-9 Unit started in 1982 and has developed into one of the nation's most professional and well-trained units. The unit has grown to its current size of fifteen teams that perform seven days a week coverage.

Our Mounted Unit currently consists of five full-time riders and sixteen sworn reserve riders. These riders cover patrol and special events with seven days a week coverage. The Tampa Police Mounted Unit is the premier model for training and professionalism. Many agencies use our unit as a standard for the development of a mounted unit.

Yearly the two units perform an average of 165 community and educational public demonstrations in addition to their patrol duties.
