2009 Community Policing Awardee - Officer Dusty RhodesOfficer Dusty Rhodes has been assigned to the North Boulevard Homes development since March 2006.  He works diligently on a daily basis to improve the quality of life for the residents of that area.  Officer Rhodes has developed a rapport with housing management and openly communicates with them on a routine basis.  He frequently attends residents council meetings and makes himself available to all entities within the North Boulevard Homes neighborhood.

While conducting community-policing efforts in the area he still makes time to maintain a high level of productivity in his efforts to rid the neighborhood of crime.  In the past year Dusty Rhodes has executed 270 arrests, written 721 traffic citations and initiated nearly 2000 calls for service.  Officer Rhodes has developed a unique blend of a strong work ethic and a caring attitude to work with willing residents to improve the area.

Officer Rhodes was recently recognized for his efforts in developing information related to a homicide that occurred within North Boulevard Homes.  He was able to develop information that led homicide detectives to an individual who later confessed to that homicide.  That information was made possible due to Rhodes’ attention to detail and rapport with the citizens.

Because of his “Can Do “ attitude, his passion for police work and compassion for the residents that he serves Officer Dusty Rhodes has been selected as the Tampa Police Departments 2008 Community Policing Officer of the Year.
