Captain Marc J. Hamlin

Captain Marc Hamlin began his career with the Tampa Police Department in 1990. He is currently assigned to District One as the Sector B Commander, which encompasses the Bayshore, Davis Islands, Westshore and Gandy communites. He has worked in all of the districts and divisions of the Tampa Police Department. He has experience with criminal investigations, as well as plainclothes and undercover operations, due to spending seven years as a detective and a supervisor in narcotics and on a Street Anti-Crime Squad. He has also spent time in Special Operations as a supervisor and a commander where he was responsible for special events, hurricane preparation, emergency management, and all of the specialty units and squads of the department. .

Captain Hamlin has extensive experience planning and managing major special events, such as Tampaís annual Gasparilla Parade. He also oversaw the security of Raymond James Stadium for Super Bowl XLIII in 2009 and was one of the lead local law enforcement officials for the 2012 Republican National Convention, held in Tampa in August 2012. He continues to command the police operations at Raymond James Stadium for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and University of South Florida football games and the police operations at the Tampa Bay Times Forum, where the Tampa Bay Lightning play.

After Super Bowl XLIII, Hamlin continued as Stadium Commander at all Buccaneer games.  He utilizes his two years of experience in planning the Super Bowl to keep the weekly games running smoothly.

Captain Hamlin also served as a trustee on the City of Tampa Fire and Police Pension Fund for nine years and was Chairman of the Board for four years.
Captain Hamlin holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Marist College and a Masterís Degree in Public Administration from Troy State University. He is also a graduate of the University of Louisvilleís Southern Police Institute, where he was a Deanís Scholar and President of the 106th Administrative Officers Course, as well as a graduate of the United States Secret Service Dignitary Protection Seminar and the FBI Hazardous Devices School.
