The reduction of these pattern crimes made a dramatic impact on the community. Crime Analysis showed that people who commit the four pattern crimes also commit more violent crimes. Therefore, catching those criminals caused a powerful ripple effect that significantly reduced the overall crime rate. The administration restructured the organization to ensure this new Focus on Four Plan became integrated into every aspect of the department. As a result, almost 21,757 fewer crimes occurred in Tampa over the past eight years.
