2008 National Night Out

National Night Out is celebrating its 25th Anniversary on August 5, 2008.  National Night Out is organized by the National Association of Town Watch involving citizens, law enforcement, civic groups, businesses, neighborhood organizations and local officials.  Since 1984, “National Night Out- America’s Night Out Against Crime” has grown to involve over 34 million people from more than 10,000 communities.

The program is designed to:
Generate support for, and participation in local anti-crime programs
Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness
Strengthen the police community partnerships with neighborhoods and businesses
Send a message to criminals letting them know what neighborhoods & businesses are organized and fighting back

“National Night Out” has the strong support of many agencies and organizations including the U.S. Congress, Justice Department, FBI and the International Association of Chiefs of Police. National Night Out has grown to involve cities and law enforcement agencies from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canada and U.S. military bases around the world.
