I joined the Tampa Police Explorer Post
#275 at the age of 15 in 2001. During my tenure with the
Explorer Program, I climbed through the ranks as Corporal, Sergeant,
Lieutenant, and ended my position as a Major. I attended State
Competitions from 2002-2008, and I received the Explorer of the Year
award in 2007. In the Ride-A-Long Program, I participated
in over a thousand hours where I experienced daily patrol duties and
different scenarios which prepared me for my future career.
In 2008, I left the Explorer Program to attended
the Police Academy at the Hillsborough Community College. In
September of that same year, I was hired as a Police Officer with
the West Palm Beach Police Department. I initially was
assigned to the Patrol Unit till February 2011, and then I was
reassigned to my current assignment in the DUI (Driving Under The
Influence) Enforcement Unit.
My experience with the Explorer Program was
challenging and rewarding. This program not only gave me
training and experience, but I received a lot of valuable support
from advisors, officers, and other members from the Tampa Police
Department. I truly believe that I would not be where I am
today without this program.
