Tampa's Reclaimed Water

View of reclaimed water being used to irrigate Tampa's Curtis Hixon Park.

The Reclaimed Water project (formerly STAR - South Tampa Area Reclaimed Water) distributes highly treated wastewater from the Howard F. Curren Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant on Hooker's Point to residents and businesses in parts of Tampa where it can be used to irrigate lawns and landscaping.  Tampa's reclaimed water rate is $1.20 for each unit of water (748 gallons) used.

For everyone who is already a reclaimed water customer - Thank You for helping to conserve Tampa's drinking water.

For everyone who is located within Tampa's reclaimed water service area, and has not connected to the system, now is the perfect time because it:

  • Frees homeowners from watering restrictions;

  • Conserves Tampa's drinking water supply;

  • Reduces the need to frequently fertilize due to the nutrient content of the water; and

  • Reduces irrigation costs.

For more information about Tampa's reclaimed water or getting connected to the system, please contact a reclaimed water customer service representative or call (813) 274-8811.

System Expansion Projects

Reclaimed Water Neighborhood Sign

Extending reclaimed water to other areas of Tampa will help conserve even more potable water.  Before moving forward, the City must first assess the feasibility of these future expansion projects. The Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD) is providing assistance for the planning, engineering, citizen's participation and financial analyses of these projects. Boundaries will be determined during the design stages of projects.
