Inspired by historically successful photographic projects including the Farm Security Administration’s WPA photographers, the National Endowment for the Arts, and regional photographic archives documenting the richness and diversity of Tampa, the City of Tampa’s Public Art Program is seeking to commission its eighth Photographer Laureate. Since 2003, a "volume" or portfolio of an artist’s work has been added to the City of Tampa’s Public Art collection. The subject matter is open, and may include images of specific sites and subjects, or images may be grouped around a theme.
