2004 Raymond James Gasparilla Festival of the Arts Purchase Award
This purchase is a part of the Mayor's initiative to
make Tampa a City of the Arts, and marks the Gasparilla Festival of
the Arts' first, and most substantial, purchase award.
Beginning in 2004, the City of Tampa's Public Art Program will
purchase selected artwork(s) recommended by the Festival's
nationally recognized guest jurors. This year, jurors Alan
DuBois, Curator of Decorative Arts, Arkansas Art Center, and Marti
Mayo, Director of the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston, recommended
artwork by Mathew Cornell (Orlando), Duncan McClellan (Tampa), and
Susan Rollins-Gehring (Dunedin).
This annual Purchase award seeks to support regional
artists, and arts organizations, while offering outstanding artwork
for viewing to the citizens of Tampa.
