Tampa Downtown Partnership Growing Panes

growing panes artwork

The Tampa Downtown Partnership developed the innovative project, Growing Panes, a Public Art project designed to enliven the streetscape of a less traveled area of downtown Tampa.  Vibrantly painted panels are attached to vacant storefront windows of the Maas Brothers, Griffin, and Kress Buildings on North Franklin Blvd.  The City of Tampa Public Art Program assisted in supporting the local artists who painted the panels.

Participating artists include local artists, student artists, including six area schools, and the Hillsborough Association of Retarded Citizens. The various artistic styles capture the social, economic and historical dimensions of Tampa. Read individually, these artworks each tell a story -- about a place, subject, artist.  Read collectively, they read as a community quilt to speak to our vibrancy and diversity.  The panels will be exhibited through March 2005.  Participating Artists and Organizations:
