WELCOME SISTER The Beulah Baptist Church welcomed me into their family with no hesitation. Men in crisp white 3-piece suits and women in distinctive hats and lace gloves greeted me. Everyone had a smile and a “welcome sister” for me. I felt at home. They allowed me to photograph the entire service, which was difficult because I was tapping my feet, singing and feeling the moment. On this Sunday morning the world was perfect and love filled the church. I cannot remember what the sermon was but I know I was happy and content for days. During the introduction of visitors, I was the only one that day, I told of my project and thanked them for allowing me in. Applause erupted and they said I should come back every Sunday!
