Cenotaph and Ceremonial Space

Ceremonial Space by Bob Haozous, photo by George Cott American Indians throughout the Western Hemisphere have a unique and rightful connection to place. The cenotaph and Ceremonial Space at Cotanchobee (where the big water meets the land) at the mouth of the historic Hillsborough River at Tampa, marks such a place. Ceremonial Space marks a time of peace and reconciliation with the land as an indigenous place. The term cenotaph was chosen for this site because it is not a site of mourning, or a gravesite; there are no human remains here. This installation marks historic collateral damage and new beginnings.
