The Department of Arts and Cultural Affairs, under the direction of the Neighborhood Services Administrator and provides oversight to the Art Programs. 

The City of Tampa has representatives on the following boards and committees:

• The Florida Orchestra
• Hillsborough County Aviation Authority Public Art Committee,
• Hillsborough County Arts Council
• Kid City – the Children’s Museum
• Henry B. Plant Museum
• Lights On Tampa
• Mayor’s Beautification Program
• The Museum of Science and Industry
• Tampa Bay History Center
• Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center
• Tampa/Hillsborough County Expressway Authority Aesthetics Committee
• Tampa Public Art
• Tampa Bay Business Committee for the Arts
• Gasparilla Festival of the Arts Board
• The Tampa Theater

The department’s involvement in these boards and activities includes strategic planning, budget oversight, facility needs, fundraising, advocacy, grant proposals, special events, operations, board development, marketing and program development so that opportunities for collaboration are identified and maximized. Project management for the Cultural Arts District in Downtown Tampa, (project began in FY 00) is another responsibility of the department.
