Where do you stand
Your Residential Utility Bill has been among the lowest of the surrounding communities for a long time and will continue to be so. In FY98, a modest water rate increase is proposed. The last increase was in FY94 - four years ago! This increase is necessary due to increased operating and capital costs as well as reengineering at both treatment plants and the Water Quality 2000 plan.In addition, a Solid Waste increase of $1 per month is recommended to improve the McKay Bay Refuse-to-Energy facility necessary to meet Federal and State environmental requirements.
The Water and Solid Waste increases will amount to a 4.4% increase in your utility bill. With an average monthly cost of $57.20, you can see from the diagram below where you stand in comparison to your neighbors.
