Cable Regulation
Mission:
Insuring that the residents of Tampa are provided reliable cable
television service, which meets industry technical standards, by
the cable television franchisee.
Duties:
- Monitoring and enforcing the Verizon and Bright House Networks cable franchises
- Investigating cable subscriber's complaints with Verizon and Bright House Networks
- Serving as the City’s policy-maker on all federal/state cable television issues
- Overseeing regulations of all cable
television franchises and permits
- Negotiating terms of those franchises
- Advising City Council and the Mayor on cable and telecommunications issues.
Mission:
Providing Tampa's residents with a broad range of public, education
and government information via cable television at minimal cost, while
maintaining programming with a high level of integrity through neutrality.
Duties:
- Overseeing Public Access and Educational
Access in the City
- Operating City of Tampa Television, a government access channel
on Channel 615 on Bright House Networks and Channel 15 on the
Verizon cable system.
