About CTTVCity of Tampa Television (CTTV), Channel 615 on Bright House Networks and Channel 15 on the Verizon cable system, is programming produced primarily by city, county, state and federal agencies and employees. Programs run the gamut from live coverage of Tampa City Council meetings to city informational programs such as "Spotlight Tampa" and public service announcements. CTTV is owned and operated by the City of Tampa. CTTV turned twenty years old in 2005. Programming initially began with the taping of Tampa City Council meetings. About six months later, Tampa City Council meetings were telecast live. Concurrently, city staff was trained by City of Tampa Cable Office personnel in the basics of video production. After completing the training, they were certified to produce programs for the CTTV channel. Initially the Tampa Police Department produced public safety programs, Tampa Fire Rescue produced a magazine program, the Community Affairs Department produced a public affairs program, the Tampa Water Department produced specials, etc. Slowly through the years, City Bulletin Board messages were replaced with locally produced programs of interest and concern to Tampa residents. In 1994, CTTV moved to a larger facility and continues to provide programs that are of interest to and are requested by the public. Vision and Mission:Our mission is to provide City of Tampa residents with accurate and
informative television programming regarding the operation of their city
government and the services available to them through the many city departments.
Conversely, we will provide those departments a fast and reliable means of
reaching out to their constituency with information that they feel is important
to improving the overall quality of life in Tampa. The Office of Cable
Communication will also ensure that residents of Tampa are provided reliable
cable television service. Our vision is to reach out to more Tampa households
and to improve upon the programming that we deliver, so that all City of Tampa
departments are represented by the services they provide.
