Recommendations Regarding Community Cable-Related Needs and Interests
PEG ACCESS
The current number of public, educational and government access channels should continue to be required in future franchise agreements, with an appropriate mechanism established to “trigger” the activation of additional access channels as demand warrants.
PEG access should be supported by the cable company and the City through the provision of funding for equipment, facilities, and access services at the same or a higher level than is currently being provided.
Funding for replacement of access equipment should also be provided by the cable company throughout the term of any renewed franchise agreement.
A nonprofit public access management organization should be created and public access management be moved from Time Warner to that organization.
