City Attorney James H. Shimberg, Jr.

Mr. James H. Shimberg Jr., educated at the University of Florida during both undergraduate and law school, was a practicing attorney with the law firm of Holland & Knight for over 26 years. During his tenure with that firm, Mr. Shimberg served in multiple management roles, including three years as the executive partner in its Tampa office, the local group leader for the Tampa Bay real estate and land use practice, and co-chair of the National Land Use practice group.

Mr. Shimberg has extensive experience at local, regional and state levels having represented clients on issues related to zoning, land use, governmental comprehensive planning and development of regional impacts, and land development and permitting issues for both commercial and residential matters. An A-V rated attorney, which is the highest honor bestowed by the esteemed Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory, he is listed in the Best Lawyers in America Guide under both real estate and land use and zoning law.
