Yvonne Yolie Capin, District 3
|
Generations of my family have lived and worked in Tampa. My
mother and father were born in Tampa; my grandmother was born in Tampa and my
great-grandmother was born in Key West.
I attended Thomas Jefferson High School and was in the first graduating class of
Leto High School. I was a member of the charter class of Hillsborough Community
College and attended the University of Tampa.
I am a retired, small business woman, self-employed all my adult life. I started
my first business at age 21 and by age 26 had opened my first jewelry store at a
regional mall.
I currently serve as a board member of The Spring of Tampa Bay and serve on the
Advisory Board of the Humane Society of Tampa Bay. I have previously served on
the board of the Ybor City State Museum, the Executive Committee for
Hillsborough Community College's Festival of the Moving Image and Co-Curator of
International Art Works at the Hillsborough Community College Gallery.
As your City Council member, I chair the Transportation Committee and serve on
the Arts Council, Streetcar Board, Public Transportation Commission and the
Council of Governments.
I am married to Juan R. Capin and we have one daughter, Jessica Lynn, who is
married to Mark Dion.
It is a privilege for me to serve the citizens of the City of Tampa and I will
dedicate all my efforts and energy to this task for the remainder of my term.
