Mark Huey

Economic and Urban Development Administrator

Mark Huey currently serves as the City’s Economic and Urban Development Administrator. In this capacity, Mark oversees several city departments including: Economic & Urban Development Tourism and Convention Center, and the City’s overall redevelopment initiatives.

Mark Huey also oversees the Tampa Convention Center, located directly on the waterfront in the heart of downtown Tampa.  The Center is a beautiful facility that includes 600,000 feet of meeting space and 2,000 feet of waterfront views.  The Center recently completed an expansion project that doubled its number of breakout rooms to 36.  The additional meeting rooms compliment the Center's 200,000 square foot exhibit hall, and 36,000 square foot ballroom.  A must see for future convention sites.

Prior to "coming home" to Tampa twenty years ago, Mark spent three years in product management with General Mills at their Minneapolis headquarters. After returning to Tampa, Mark spent ten years in private sector commercial real estate development at the Wilson Company, working his way up to the role of the Vice President of New Development. During this time he worked on projects such as Bayport Plaza, Fountain Square, and most particularly, the Carillon, the mixed used development in the gateway area of Pinellas County.

In the non-profit sector Mark worked for Metropolitan Ministries as its Chief Operating Officer and at the Tampa Housing Authority as its Chief Financial Officer. Mark helped guide both these organizations through significant expansion. Most recently, Mark was involved with the ongoing public housing redevelopment initiatives. These public/private partnerships had combined redevelopment budgets in excess of $200 million.

Mark has an MBA from the Wharton School of Business and a BA in Accounting from the University of Florida. He is a CPA. He is enthusiastic and energetic. This City will have a tremendously positive impact because of Mark's leadership.
