Michael Chen
Michael Chen manages the Channel District Community Redevelopment Area
(CRA) as well as the two Downtown CRA's. His efforts are focused on
comprehensive redevelopment planning and execution of strategic plans for each.
Most Recently, Michael served as the director of development services for the Village
of Oak Park, Illinois.Since 1999, he
has overseen numerous public/private developments.
In Oak Park, his efforts resulted in attracting $100-$120
million per year of investment to the Village's eleven business districts.
Previously Michael served as vice president for Corporex Companies Inc., where he
was responsible for strategic planning and development of CirclePort, a 650-acre
premier office park. He also served
as director and sr. vice president of Japan Development and Construction Co.
(Miami/Tokyo). His responsibilities
included identifying new projects, investment underwriting and the coordination
of financing for the development of a $500 million real estate portfolio.
As vice-president of Osborne Engineering Company in Louisville, Kentucky., he coordinated international project teams for major industrial projects in
third-world countries. Additionally,
he was an adjunct professor teaching micro and macro economics at Xavier
University of Cincinnati.
Michael graduated from the University of Louisville, Kentucky., in 1974, with a bachelor
of science in commerce with a major in finance.
He received his master of science in total quality management from the University
of Miami
in 1997.
