GT CERT held a Communications and S&R Exercise on
Saturday, March 20th at the Tampa Fire Recue Training
Center. The exercise simulated a search and Rescue operation
for a missing 7 year old boy "Tommy" (pictured). Five teams
split up and systematically searched the TFR training
grounds finding the "missing child" in less than 1 hour.
There were 22 participants in attendance at the exercise.

January Refresher Training GTCERT Volunteers
participated in a refresher course on Patient Assessment,
Communications, and Safety Awareness. |

GTCERT volunteers had a great day at the Temple Terrace Fire
Rescue Open Houses. They had a chance to recruit
volunteers, educate the public, and enjoy the open houses
themselves! |

GTCERT assisted the Tampa Police Department and Public
Works Department with practicing re-entry procedures for an
evacuation zone. We covered the different levels of
evacuation and how to respond to various requests. |

GTCERT Volunteers enjoyed a parade and fireworks as they
assisted Temple Terrace public safety officials with
communications during the 4th of July festivities. |

The annual Rally Point Exercise ensures GTCERT volunteers
know where to report and can communicate with each in the
event of a hurricane. Check back, more pictures may be

On Saturday, May 30th, 2009, GTCERT participated at the
2009 MOSI Hurricane EXPO hosted by the City of Tampa and
Hillsborough County Emergency Management. Seven GTCERT
members answered questions about the program and handed out
brochures. |
